Backups and restore

Automatic daily backups, on-demand backups and restore in a few clicks.

Automatic backups

Every day at 3am (UTC) the n8n database (workflows, credentials and execution history) is copied to encrypted S3 storage. Each backup is kept for 90 days.

Back up now

On the instance Backups tab, click Back up now. The backup shows up in the list in about a minute.

Restore

On the Backups tab, click Restore next to the backup you want. We back up the current state first. n8n is offline for a few minutes, and everything that changed after the chosen backup is lost.

Export workflows

Besides backups, you can download any workflow as JSON from n8n itself and import it into another instance.
